Sepion Technologies, led by Cyclotron Road innovator Peter Frischmann (Cohort Two) was recently awarded a Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer award totaling $1,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy to work with Argonne National Laboratory to accelerate Sepion's development of Li-ion battery separator technology that improves energy density and lifetime of next-generation Li-batteries and support a pilot production demonstration to provide rolled samples to customers.

Visolis Inc., let by alumnus Deepak Dugar (Cohort One), was recently awarded two Phase II Small Business Innovation Research awards, one from the U.S. Department of Energy and the other from the National Science Foundation. The DOE award will focus on production of industrial chemicals from organic wastes , while the NSF award will focus on production of high performance monomers from biomass.

Congratulations to both teams!
